BLT Sandwich
Ingredients
- • 450 g bacon
- • 8 slices white or whole wheat bread
- • 2 item large tomatoes
- • 8 leaves iceberg or romaine lettuce
- • 120 ml mayonnaise
- • 1 sprinkle salt to taste
- • 1 sprinkle black pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
- 2
While bacon cooks, slice tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- 3
Toast bread slices until golden brown, either in a toaster or under the broiler for 1-2 minutes per side.
- 4
Wash and thoroughly dry lettuce leaves. Pat dry with paper towels to prevent soggy sandwiches.
- 5
Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each toast slice.
- 6
To assemble each sandwich: place 2-3 lettuce leaves on the mayo side of one toast slice, add 2-3 tomato slices, then 3-4 strips of bacon. Top with another toast slice, mayo side down.
- 7
Cut sandwiches diagonally and secure with toothpicks if desired. Serve immediately while bacon is still warm and toast is crispy.

Chef's Note
"The perfect BLT is all about quality ingredients and timing - crispy bacon, ripe tomatoes at room temperature, and toasted bread that's golden but still soft inside. Don't skip the black pepper on the tomatoes - it makes all the difference!"
