Ingredients

Units:
  • 900 g ground turkey
  • 120 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 item eggs, beaten
  • 80 ml whole milk
  • 60 ml ketchup
  • 15 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 ml dried thyme
  • 5 ml dried oregano
  • 7.5 ml salt
  • 2.5 ml black pepper
  • 80 ml ketchup for glaze
  • 30 ml brown sugar
  • 15 ml apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 2-3 minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk and soften.

  3. 3

Add the ground turkey, diced onion, minced garlic, beaten eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the breadcrumb mixture.

  4. 4

Using your hands or a large spoon, gently mix all ingredients together until just combined. Don't overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.

  5. 5

Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking sheet and shape into a loaf about 9 inches long and 5 inches wide, or press into the loaf pan.

  6. 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the glaze ingredients: ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar.

  7. 7

Brush half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf, reserving the rest for later.

  8. 8

Bake for 45 minutes, then brush the remaining glaze over the top.

  9. 9

Continue baking for another 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.

  10. 10

Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the meatloaf hold its shape and allows the juices to redistribute.

  11. 11

Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides, or let cool completely for perfect sandwich slices the next day.

Chef's Note

"This healthier twist on classic meatloaf delivers all the comfort without the guilt—the secret is keeping it moist with milk and eggs while that tangy-sweet glaze caramelizes beautifully. Serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans for a weeknight dinner that feels like home."
