Juicy Lamb Burger with Feta and Mint
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, crumbled feta, chopped mint, minced garlic, diced red onion, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined - don't overmix.
- 2
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging during cooking.
- 3
Prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, diced cucumber, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- 4
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Brush the grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- 5
Grill the lamb burgers for 5-6 minutes per side for medium doneness, or adjust cooking time to your preference. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for medium.
- 6
During the last minute of cooking, place the hamburger buns cut-side down on the grill to toast lightly.
- 7
To assemble, spread tzatziki sauce on both halves of each bun. Place a lamb patty on the bottom bun, then top with lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion. Crown with the top bun.
- 8
Serve immediately while the burgers are hot and juicy.
Chef's Note
"These Mediterranean-inspired lamb burgers are my go-to for impressing guests - the feta and mint create an incredibly juicy, flavorful patty that pairs perfectly with the cooling yogurt-cucumber sauce. Don't skip toasting the buns for that perfect crispy-soft contrast!"
