BBQ Chicken Pizza

Ingredients

Units:
  • 450 g pizza dough
  • 180 ml BBQ sauce
  • 400 g cooked chicken breast, diced
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 100 g red onion, thinly sliced
  • 100 g smoked gouda cheese, shredded
  • 15 g fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 2 g garlic powder
  • 1 sprinkle salt to taste
  • 1 sprinkle black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. 2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 12-14 inches in diameter.

  3. 3

Transfer the dough to a pizza pan or parchment paper if using a pizza stone. Brush the edges with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder.

  4. 4

Spread 120ml (1/2 cup) of BBQ sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch border for the crust.

  5. 5

In a bowl, toss the diced chicken with the remaining 60ml (1/4 cup) BBQ sauce until well coated.

  6. 6

Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce-covered dough.

  7. 7

Distribute the BBQ chicken evenly over the cheese, followed by the sliced red onions.

  8. 8

Top with the remaining mozzarella and all of the smoked gouda cheese.

  9. 9

Season lightly with salt and black pepper to taste.

  10. 10

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown in spots.

  11. 11

Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle fresh cilantro over the top.

  12. 12

Cut into 8 slices and serve immediately.

Chef's Note

"For an authentic BBQ flavor, try using a smoky BBQ sauce and consider adding a few drops of liquid smoke to your chicken. If you prefer a spicier kick, add some sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce before serving!"
